Methodology

We compare 67 paid services and products across 79 countries and 73 total entries. Here is exactly how the numbers are obtained.

The four steps

Collecting official prices

For each service, we collect the consumer-facing price from the local store: App Store for mobile subscriptions, Steam for games, Apple Store for hardware. It is always the tax-inclusive price — the one you would see on screen from that country.

Converting to euros

Each amount is converted using the reference exchange rate stored with the price snapshot. The conversion is solely to make countries comparable: it does not include your bank's exchange fees or payment method commissions.

Calculating the gap

The displayed gap compares each country to the French price for the same plan. A negative value means the country is more expensive than France, not that the offer differs.

Updates

Prices are collected automatically and reconverted whenever exchange rates are updated. The prices shown today come from a reference dataset frozen for the site launch; automatic ingestion takes over once activated.

What we compare, category by category

🤖 AI: AI providers charge wildly different prices depending on your account country. Here are the real gaps, converted to euros.
🎬 Streaming: Netflix, Spotify and YouTube Premium have used regional pricing for years. The gap with France often exceeds 80%.
🎮 Steam: Steam uses regional pricing. The same game can cost 60 EUR in France and under 20 EUR elsewhere, after conversion.
🍎 Apple: Apple hardware price gaps come mostly from VAT and import duties. The US, Japan and Hong Kong remain structurally cheaper.

Known limitations

Plans are not always strictly identical across countries: number of screens, video quality, or quotas may vary.
Temporary promotions and carrier bundles are not tracked.
Bank exchange fees are not included in the tables; the calculator, however, does apply them.
A listed price is not a guarantee of eligibility: most services require a local payment method.
